Introduction to Islam & the Muslim Culture Course

“I think I can say that I found this one of the most informative & helpful courses I have ever attended…I would recommend this course without hesitation”

Iona Butler – Kent Adult Social Services

Over 13,500 people throughout the UK & Ireland have now attended this highly informative & successful course and we are now pleased to announce course dates for 2010 in the South East areas.

Helping to answer questions such as…..

Ø       How can I work better with Muslims in my community?

Ø       Why do some Muslim women wear a headscarf?

Ø       What actually happens inside a Mosque?

Ø       Why do Muslims pray five times a day?

Ø       What is Sharia Law?

Ø       What is the meaning if Jihad?

Plus offering you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have in a friendly & comfortable environment.

The course is specifically designed for Non-Muslim public sector professionals who work with & for Muslims from diverse communities, but is open to anyone from any background who wishes to learn more about Islam & the Muslim culture.

“I was not sure what to expect, but was not disappointed. It has certainly enhanced my knowledge about the true practices of Islam & dispelled many images portrayed in the media. Thank you very much”.

Teresa Cannon – Norfolk County Council/Breckland Council

Courses are being run in numerous areas throughout the UK with previous dates having proven to be highly popular with delegates attending from a variety of public sector backgrounds, such as Social Workers, Teachers, Fire Fighters, Police Officers, Youth Offending Teams, Care Workers and many more.

Incorporating a visit to a local Mosque (where possible) it aims to provide you with:

·          A better understanding of basic beliefs & practices,

·          Information regarding the background to Muslims,

·          A chance to discuss some Public Sector Development issues relating to  Muslim Communities,

·          Group work that will enable you to discuss case studies,

·          A better understanding of the Implementation of the Race Relations (Amendment) Act and the religion and Belief regulations.

*Should a visit to a Mosque not be possible or if no Mosque is available in the local area, then a virtual tour of a Mosque will be used as part of the presentation.

“I found the course very informative & enjoyable & would certainly recommend it to anyone, whether they have day to day dealings with the Muslim community or not”.

Debbie Calcott –Calderdale Council
