What we do	Soroptimist International is a global organisation for women in management and the professions,working through various projects to advance human rights and the status of women. We have NGO Category 1 Status with the United Nations and strong links with many other non-governmental organisations. Bournemouth Soroptimists are already working on many of the partnership areas and will bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise gained through diverse profesional lives.
Contribution to Partnership	Locally we are working with the Bournemouth Womens Refuge,and support Contact the Elderly. Internationally we are working with our Friendship Club in Dhaka,Bangladesh, to help with literacy and health amongst the street children of the city.This has evolved into a major fundraising project and the setting up of a new charity -Cementing Futures-to build a school there. We also lobby,on subjects that concern us and join many organisations in partnership to achieve our aims. We have collected unwanted jewellery for the Licking Lassa Fever campaign to eradicate this disease in Sierra Leone. Our organisation's Qudrennial project is to provide financial support in the same country to help with micro grants,eduation and training. Although we have serious aims we are a friendly and supportive network for women who lead busy lives and the warmth and friendship that membership brings is one of our assets We welcome prospective new members to our monthly meetings.Please see our website for further details.
