100 New Apprenticeships in 100 Days

What picture comes into your mind when you hear the word ‘Apprenticeship?’ It’s learning a trade when you first leave school? Or maybe it’s the training your Grandad did years ago to become an engineer?

The fact is that Apprenticeships do still very much exist but in a far more exciting and wide ranging form. There are more apprentices in training today than at any time in our history.

In Bournemouth, Dorset and Poole alone 6000 people started Apprenticeships this year. Over 190 types of Apprenticeships are available and constantly being updated – ensuring that Apprenticeships are at the heart of today’s economy and are built for to the future too.

Now couldn’t be a better time to start an Apprenticeship or look to employ an apprentice. The National Apprenticeship Service, in association with the Dorset Training Providers and the Dorset Echo, will soon be launching the ‘100 in 100 Apprenticeship Challenge’, which will see Dorset businesses targeted to take on 100 new apprentices in as many days.

Apprenticeships bring many benefits to businesses including improved employee retention; staff motivation and increased productivity. There is already a bank of Apprenticeship vacancies available – more than 80 jobs have been posted on apprenticeships.org.uk in the last month alone, covering a range of opportunities from Hospitality to Aerospace Engineering.
