| What we do |
To help promote the idea of real community: especially among the isolated, the marginalised, the poor and the needy. To help deliver essential care services to the community, such as food provision to families and individuals in crisis. To help offer real support for addicts wanting to break free from substance addiction: to provide a path back to normal life and opportunities. To support local families, children and young people through activities, events, education and relevant community groups.

| Contribution to Partnership | Bournemouth Vineyard Church is a contemporary Christian Church without the boring bits! We have a saying: ‘Come as you are but don’t stay as you are’. We’re made up of over 400 adults and children and we’re passionate about serving and ministering to the community of Bournemouth. We have services every Sunday morning at 10.30am at Winton Arts & Media College, Winton Way, Bournemouth BH10 4HT. Our services are open to everyone. They’re lively too! Outside of Sundays there are a number of midweek groups and activities that run throughout the year, including Alpha-type courses, marriage enrichment courses, women’s and men’s fellowship groups, family, children’s and youth groups. At the Vineyard we feel especially called to help alleviate poverty, hardship and suffering in Bournemouth. In December 2007 we founded the Bournemouth Food Bank. The mission of the Food Bank is to provide emergency food parcels to families and individuals in crisis. Food is collected through donations from community organisations, churches, schools and the general public via supermarket collections. Packaged food parcels are distributed by a voucher system where clients are referred to the Food Bank via numerous care organisations in the community. Today we are giving away over 70 parcels every week and the demand is increasing. We are constantly working to bring new voucher-distributors online so that no one need go without food in Bournemouth. The Food Bank is run by volunteers from the local community and is open Monday to Friday, 10.30am-1pm. Addiction recovery is also an important part of our community ministry. We operate 12-step programmes to complement the treatment of addicts already in recovery as well as providing advice and support for ‘using’ addicts wanting to find freedom from substance abuse. We have a dedicated team who go out onto the streets of Boscombe each week to offer care, support and friendship (and a cup of hot tea!) to the homeless and marginalised poor. |
