| What we do |
As the last generation to be able to stop catastrophic climate change it is imperative that fine words are translated into dynamic action. See EffienCity (Greenpeace website at http://www.greenpeace.org.uk/files/efficiencity/index.html). Now is a critical time in terms of leadership regarding mind-shift, energy and resources. Skilling up for power-down (as exemplar Transition Towns) for a post-carbon age will involve energy self-sufficiency, renewables, improved public transport and reduced planetary impact. This crisis is also a golden opportunity to usher in a happier time of cooperative localism.

| Contribution to Partnership | Bournemouth and Poole Greenpeace have been involved in the successful light bulb campaign and more generally in climate change awareness and education. We have been involved in campaigns against the promotion of dirty coal-fired power stations (more recently Kingsnorth) and for the promotion of the proposed wind farm at East Stoke. The latter has involved emailing climate sceptics. Some activities have taken place online such as defending the world’s oceans (global marine reserves) and the illegal and destructive logging of the world’s ancient forests. |
