Town Centre Area Action Plan Pre-Submission Consultation

About this Consultation

The Bournemouth Town Centre Area Action Plan will set out the planning policies for future development and regeneration of the town centre.  This was the final public consultation in the preparation of the document, following on from the broader ‘Issues and Options’ consultation in April/May 2009, the ‘Detailed Options’ consultation from January to March 2010, and the Preferred Options consultation that ran from November 2010 to January 2011.

The results from the previous consultations have shaped the Area Action Plan, so at this stage the consultation focused on whether the plan is sound and whether, in preparing the plan, the Council has followed the correct procedures.

As this is one of the later stages in the preparation of the Area Action Plan, the responses from the public to our previous consultations were taken into account. 

Activities included:

• Email and postal contact to statutory consultees and those on the Local Development Framework Consultation Database
• Notification email/letter to Bournemouth 2026 partners
• Postal contact to a random sample of Bournemouth residents and businesses that were consulted for the Issues and Options, Detailed Options, and Preferred Option consultations (60% town centre, 40% outside town centre)
• Hard copies of the document to every Bournemouth Library and in Planning Services for reference
• Email and postal contact to the Bournemouth Area Forums
• Information on Bournemouth and town centre vision websites
• Advertisement in local press

The consultation was live on the council website and there was an online portal for people to make comments online.
