Click here for an introduction to the Partnership.
Via the partnership, we are working closely with our partners such as Dorset Police and Dorset Fire Rescue to develop long-term sustainable solutions to the underlying issues that Boscombe faces.
In 2010 funding was granted to the Council by the Department of Communities and Local Government to re-engage with the community of Boscombe. The Connecting Communities Grant is helping to address the alienation amongst sections of the community in the deprived area of Boscombe, enabling a re-connection and break down barriers between service providers such as the Council and the Police.
The Council and the Police are working in partnership from the Boscombe Regeneration Partnership office to continue to deliver a number of activities which are linked to the Council’s priorities of strengthening the community and reducing crime and fear of crime.
Here is just a brief overview of what's been happening in Boscombe over the past year:
Autumn 2010 saw residents being updated about Police activity in the area to tackle drug-related crime and associated violence. Reassurances were made to the law abiding public that concerns have been listened to and positive action is being taken to get drug dealing and prostitution off the streets of Boscombe. In early September, an operation by Dorset Police officers saw the arrest of 29 people in Boscombe, 24 were subsequently charged predominantly with drug related offences.
The planned operations followed months of investigative work into suspected members of crime groups and alleged offences, under the Misuse of Drugs 1971, with the help of members of the community. Further operations were carried out to tackle prostitution and kerb crawling, working with partners to offer support to vulnerable people where appropriate.
The Police continue to work with partners which sees agencies and residents working together to clean up Boscombe.

Works to improve the infrastructure and street scene in Roumelia Lane were completed in January. These included road resurfacing; better street lighting; CCTV; introduction of a one-way system and measures to prevent the lane from Christchurch Road being used as a short cut.
Funding was allocated to enhance and substantially improve the area within and around Roumelia Lane in direct response to hearing residents' concerns and suggestions and will play a significant role in improving not only the appearance of the area but also community safety.
Boscombe has established mix of small creative businesses trading in antiques; art; and vintage clothing talent. The introduction of a high class vintage market with ‘a creative edge’ once a month in the Crescent is helping to provide opportunities for small businesses, local artists, skilled crafts people and enterprising students, whilst increasing footfall in the area; and raising the profile of Boscombe as an arts and cultural hub of Bournemouth.
More information can be found on our news just in page and at www.facebook.com/boscombevintagemarket
New design proposals have been produced in a drive to improve safety, quality and community use of the Crescent through a joint effort between Bournemouth Borough Council, Local Stakeholders and Bournemouth East SNT Dorset Police for the regeneration of this public open space.
Consultation on the design has been undertaken and the results used to inform initial decisions on a first phase of works. Find out more on our news just in page.
