Find Help and Support at Bournemouth’s Family Information Day

On Thursday 23 September, the Sovereign Centre in Boscombe will host another popular Family Information Day.

Organised by Bournemouth Borough Council, the event aims to help local families and ensure they are receiving all the support they need, and are entitled to.

The event will be held outside Peacocks at the Sovereign Centre between 9am and 4pm.

Councillor Nicola Greene, Cabinet Member for Education and Children’s Services said: “We have received a lot of positive feedback from families who attended previous Family Information Days and found them extremely helpful. We took over 2500 enquiries at the last event in March; many people didn’t realise the amount of support on offer to help them in their daily lives.

“The easiest way to find out is to come on down to the event, where a huge range of services will be on hand for an informal chat, including all eight of our children’s centres, our Children’s Information Service, the fostering team, and many more.”

Other services on hand to talk to local people will include:

Bournemouth LINks – who will listen to the public’s views on health and social care services and pass on what they find to the NHS and social services department
Butterfly Foundation - a local charity working with male and female survivors of domestic abuse
Childcare recruitment team
Childminding team
Citizen’s Advice Bureau
Diamond Faces
Dorset Fire and Rescue
Gym Buggies
Help and Care - a registered charity working with older people, carers and communities
Police Community Support Officers
Polish Support Group
Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (ROSPA) – providing information to help families keep their children safe from home accidents
Young Adults Drug and Alcohol Service (YADAS)
Children will be kept entertained with face painting and Mr Merlin and Okey Dokey the Dragon in the bandstand.
