Silver Jewellery Design, IT Skills, Fashion and Interior Design are just some of the new courses residents can sign up for this coming autumn.
The new 2010/11 Bournemouth Adult Learning and Poole Adult Learning brochure is now available with a range of courses available to suit adults of all ages and abilities.
Once again, residents can take advantage of free English and maths courses to brush up on basic skills as well as signing up for professional qualifications at Levels 2 and 3 such as City & Guilds Creative Techniques, ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence), Fitness Instructing, Complementary Therapy Diplomas and Team Leading. There is also a new Foundation Learning programme offering courses with nationally recognised qualifications for those who haven’t accessed learning opportunities before.
Karen Wilmshurst, Learner Services Manager said: “People know that they can access adult learning to learn a language for fun or try their hand at a new hobby but perhaps they don’t realise the full range of vocational opportunities adult learning can now offer. We can help residents to gain the skills and qualifications they need to get them back in to employment, change career direction or learn some basic skills to boost self-confidence.”
Councillor Nicola Greene, Cabinet Member for Education and Children’s Services said: “It’s fantastic that residents have such a wide range of learning opportunities available to them on their doorstep. I would encourage local people to take a look at the courses that adult learning can provide; whether it’s exploring a new hobby or gaining vital skills for work, there is something for everyone.”
The Bournemouth Adult Learning and Poole Adult Learning brochure is available at local libraries throughout Bournemouth and Poole, the Employment Service, Bournemouth Learning Centre and various other community locations as well as online: www.bournemouth.gov.uk/adultlearning
