About this Consultation

In July 2011, Bournemouth Borough Council introduced a number of recycling banks in Queens Park West Drive car park on a trial basis.

Recycling banks provide facilities for residents to recycle additional materials that can’t be recycled in the kerbside bin such as textiles and excess kerbside recycling. The trial has included banks to recycle paper, cans, plastic bottles, glass and textiles.

The car park was chosen to provide accessible recycling facilities for the local community. During the trial, over 4.5 tonnes of recycling have been deposited in the banks.

After the trial period local residents were consulted on the future of the recycling centre via a postal questionnaire.

It was also on the agenda at the Queens Park & Charminster Community Forum on Tuesday 6 December at 7:30 pm at the Brunswick Hotel, Malmesbury Park Road.

The report of the consultation findings can be downloaded below.

Based on the feedback received the recycling banks will remain permanently in the car park but will be moved to a less obtrusive site within the car park to take account of concerns about the visual appearance of the banks.
