What is this theme about?

The key issues being considered are:

• We need to continue crime reduction particularly violent crime, through targeted work on alcohol related violence and domestic violence
• We need to reduce the fear of crime, through effective media/promotional work
• The costs to the local community of drug misuse are enormous. It undermines family life, increases crime, damages health and ruins the lives of many. Tackling drug misuse is both a challenge worldwide and at a community level. It is a complex problem and requires integrated
  solutions and co-ordinated delivery of services
• Dealing with anti-social behaviour, through effective enforcement, prevention and education, including implementing the Respect Action Plan
• Ensuring that the public know what we are doing to tackle anti-social behaviour and what it is
• Ensuring that there are effective partnership arrangements at neighbourhood level, to engage the community and address their priorities
• Making Bournemouth a town where people from different backgrounds get on well together, where diversity is celebrated and prejudice and discrimination are not tolerated
• Street prostitution affects the quality of life for the residents of the areas where it takes place. Residents often feel intimidated by prostitutes and their clients
• Prostitution is unhealthy and unsafe for the prostitutes and their clients
• There are many barriers that limit the opportunities for disadvantaged people
• Debt and money-management are a real issue for many people within Bournemouth
• Whilst progress with improving housing services has been good during the last few years, homelessness including rough sleeping remains a serious issue for Bournemouth which needs continued efforts to be made
