Mosaic UK is Experian’s people classification system. Originally created by Professor Richard Webber in association with Experian, it classifies the UK population into 15 main socio-economic groups and, within this, 69 different types. Mosaic is also a global consumer classification tool.
On the 21st of June 2010 Bournemouth 2026 and Poole partnership hosted and event at Bournemouth Learning Centre. This event was to look at the use of Mosaic in improving service delivery, including its potential for identifying particular groups in the community and also to showcase how the intelligence is already being used by the public sector locally.
The biggest squeeze on public spending in our working lives requires massive productivity improvements if cuts are to be avoided. For years, the private sector has used databases to help ensure they reach and grow their target markets at minimum cost. Those same tools are also available to the public sector.
The event was well attended with representatives from Bournemouth 2026, Poole Partnership, Bournemouth Council, Poole Council, Dorset Fire and Rescue Service, Dorset Police, NHS Bournemouth & Poole and Experian.
